My Teaching Philosophy
As an educator, my number one priority will be my students. Throughout the year, students will grow both academically and socially while knowing that they are always in a safe and supportive environment. As we move through each school year, my students explore their learning through hands on activities, collaboration, and creative thinking. To encourage students to become lifelong learners, I will prioritize the needs of classroom families and the community. Together, we all must work together to help students grow and achieve to their own highest level. Each student will have different needs and abilities, and so I will prioritize making academic instruction as individualized as possible.
Classroom Management Philosophy
My classroom management philosophy is that all my students will feel safe to communicate in our classroom. My students and I will work to form procedures and by doing this, our classroom will become a community. Routines and procedures from Wong are essential to set expectations and a schedule for the day. Also, we will incorporate the ideas of Love and Logic to set the stage for our safe community. Love and Logic will be a foundational element in my future classroom because it will help students make choices and help them to think through situations in an effective manner. By the end of the year, students will work together and learn from each other in many ways, and they will learn to navigate and explore their learning on an independent level. The environment will foster and encourage all aspects of learning. If negative behaviors arise, I will respond by first trying to have a conversation with the student, then referring them back to the procedures we agreed upon, and finally contacting the family if necessary.
